Registering with JumpCloud creates your ‘secure tenant’ in our cloud-based infrastructure. In the modern cloud era, we believe that the concept of the domain has changed. The assumption that a user will be logging into a network on-premises, with all of a user’s IT resources hosted there, is no longer reality. As a result, JumpCloud focuses on securely connecting users to the IT resources they need whether the resources are located on-premise, in the cloud, or remote. It also doesn’t matter where the user is. JumpCloud in a sense creates a ‘virtual domain’ where the user is connected to whatever they have rights to, but those connections span locations, providers, protocols, and platforms. Your JumpCloud tenant manages the core identities and other data related to your organization. IT resources are then bound to and authenticated against your tenant through a wide variety of protocols, including agent-based Windows/Mac/Linux system authentication, LDAP, RADIUS, SAML for application and network resources and REST APIs to do custom integrations to other resources.

JumpCloud (DaaS) and SSO solutions are often compared, but the services that they provide are actually in two separate categories. Web application single sign-on solutions are leveraged on top of a directory service solution like JumpCloud’s, since the core directory service is authoritative of the identity. A user’s credentials are federated to the SSO provider, which then connects the user to a number of web applications. SSO providers are most commonly used to connect to web applications, while directory services are used to connect users to all of their IT resources, including systems, applications, and networks.

The fundamental difference between JumpCloud’s cloud identity management platform and Microsoft’s directory services solutions is JumpCloud’s focus on heterogeneous environments. If your organization is 100% Microsoft, then perhaps a version of Active Directory may be right for you. If, however, you are looking for a cloud-based directory service to serve your diverse on-premise endpoints (including laptops, desktops, and servers), cloud infrastructure (such as services located at AWS or Google Cloud), web and on-prem applications, data and file storage, and wired and WiFi networks, then JumpCloud’s cloud directory service platform may be an ideal choice for you.

Go to your JumpCloud console at console.jumpcloud.com, and sign-in as a ’User’ with your assigned JumpCloud email and password. From there, you can see a password reset area on the left side of your screen.

If you have forgotten your username or password, there is an option to reset your password on the user console's login screen at console.jumpcloud.com. After clicking the Reset User Password link and entering your email address, an email will be sent to your account which you can use to reset your JumpCloud account’s password. Once reset, all of your resources will be updated with your new password.
